Meet Natasha

Midlife is not the beginning of decline.

I’m Natasha Kisten, an ordinary woman navigating life in my 40s learning, changing, rebuilding and figuring things out as I go.

01Finding my no

I’m also a strong, independent badass who knows her worth and understands her values. Unfortunately, it took me about three decades to get there. My 40s, however, have been the game changer.

Over the past few years, I’ve finally found the confidence to say "NO" to constantly putting everyone and everything ahead of myself.

I’ve started prioritising my own health, my peace, my time, my goals and the things that genuinely make me feel alive. For the past two years, that has meant showing up for myself consistently, even when it would have been easier not to.

02Rewarded with muscle

Few things feel more badass than muscle on your own body.

Strength, consistently

I started working out six days a week and I mean consistently. On holiday, on good days, on bad days, on days when I feel motivated and on the days when I absolutely do not. And I have been rewarded with muscle. Ladies, trust me when I say there are few things that feel more badass than seeing and feeling muscle on your own body, which probably explains why you will see me flexing my biceps quite often on social media. I regret nothing.

Yoga & Pilates

As if that was not challenging enough, I also added yoga and Pilates into my life two practices I once vehemently disliked. Somewhere along the way, I realised my body and mind needed them far more than I ever understood. They have taught me that wellness is not always about doing more; sometimes it is about slowing down, moving differently and giving your body what it actually needs.

03Becoming a runner

“Who the hell do I think I am?”

Then, somehow, my 40s convinced me that I should become a runner. I was a happy walker, merrily going about my business ... but somewhere along the line, I decided to start running.

Today, I am a beginner, midlife, slow runner which actually means I am a runner. I recently clocked 15.5 kilometers as my longest distance and still sometimes wonder, “Who the hell do I think I am?” I started with a simple goal of running 5 km, and now your girl is chasing that elusive 21.1 km half marathon. Stranger things have happened, I guess.

04More than fitness
  • Foodie
  • Adventurer
  • Traveler 40+ countries
  • Creative
  • Free spirit

I love experiences, good food, new places, learning, creating and building a life that genuinely feels like mine.

Fitness, however, is only one part of who I am. I’m a foodie, an adventurer, a traveler who has explored more than 40 countries, a creative, a free spirit and very much a dance-like-nobody-is-watching kind of woman.

I’m also brutally honest although I’ll happily admit my delivery sometimes needs a little fine-tuning. I’m strong, opinionated, compassionate, slightly unfiltered and still very much a work in progress.

05Finding the fit

Not just physical fitness, but what fits.

While my life as the founder of FitLikeMummy has been fun and has given me incredible experiences, travel, friendships, brand collaborations and opportunities, there is much more to it than that. FitLikeMummy is about creating impact and helping women, irrespective of age, find the fit in every area of their lives. Not just physical fitness, but what fits their body, health, lifestyle, values, boundaries, ambitions and the woman they are becoming.

I take that responsibility seriously, which is why I chose to study and qualify in this space. Lived experience matters deeply to me, but so does evidence, proper education and knowing when someone needs support outside my professional scope.

06Far from perfect

130 kg

“I was confident at 130 kg, and I am confident now.”

My own health journey has been far from perfect. At my heaviest, I weighed around 130 kg. I have started over more times than I can count and probably more times than I would like to admit. I have questioned what wellness was supposed to look like and eventually realised that getting healthier could never come at the cost of actually living my life.

What I have never believed, though, is that the number on the scale determines confidence or worth. I was confident at 130 kg, and I am confident now. My body has changed, but confidence and body size have never been the same thing to me. What has changed is how I care for myself, what my body is capable of and how intentionally I choose to live.

That realisation changed everything. FitLikeMummy grew from that journey, not from perfection, not from a before-and-after photo and not from pretending I have everything figured out. It grew from lived experience, starting again, becoming stronger and finally learning to prioritise myself.

07Take up space

A space for women who want to feel stronger, healthier and more capable.

Today, FitLikeMummy is a space for women who want to feel stronger, healthier and more capable without chasing impossible standards or making their lives smaller in the process. I want women to know that they are allowed to be beginners, to change direction, to get older, to build muscle, to eat the food, to travel, to rest, to want more and to take up space.

You are allowed

  • to be beginners
  • to change direction
  • to get older
  • to build muscle
  • to eat the food
  • to travel
  • to rest
  • to want more
  • to take up space

Because I genuinely believe midlife is not the beginning of decline. For me, it has been the exact opposite. My 40s have been the beginning of becoming more of who I am and I’m only getting started.

Natasha

Professional experience. Personal truth.

A career built on safety, leadership and helping people do things better.

I have spent almost three decades in aviation across engineering, safety, quality, compliance, auditing, investigations and leadership. That background shapes how I coach: practical, structured, evidence-aware and focused on what can actually be sustained in real life.

Beyond coaching

More than one chapter.

I’m an award-winning South African blogger, Abu Dhabi-based licenced creator and the self-published author of SNACKED, my recipe book.

I am not here to perform perfection. I am here to show what consistent, imperfect progress can look like, especially for women who have spent years putting everyone else first.
